I imagine that most people will use the new Picture this dies to put some fun little images in the openings created with the die. I will do that too I am sure, but today I wanted to showcase how you might use it to create a spotlight technique -although here I modified it a bit. Usually in a spotlight card everything is black and white except the area that is raised and in color.
Here I decided to sponge color over the layer before stamping the Daisy Garden background stamp, then die cut using the picture this dies in the circles.
To make it a spotlight technique, I colored the leaves and stems on the little circles and then using the basic white ink refill I painted the petals of the daisies- but instead of painting just the portion of the flower within the circle I also painted the petals outside the circle that were part of the same flower. Hey I was already modifying it a bit anyway.
To finish it off, I added a bit of linen thread up top and a birthday greeting down below.
I really like how it turned out. I hope you do too, and that you will give it a try yourself. Contact me if you need help or have questions. Enjoy!
Happy Stamping,
Jan
